A.C.E. (After Class Enrichment)

A.C.E. is sponsored by the Bryn Athyn Church and the Bryn Athyn Church Preschool.  Our goal is to offer quality programs for children and their families.  Guided by the teachings of the New Church, we are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing environment for children and to offering community members an opportunity to share their gifts with children.

Session 2 is starting up after Thanksgiving.

DANCE

Kelly Austin and others will be teaching dance on Monday and Tuesday afternoons to children Preschool through 8th grade.  Our pool of dance teachers have had many years of dance instruction and have been teaching dance for many years.  Their dance classes focus on creating an appreciation for the art and athleticism of dance while encouraging strength and flexibility.  These classes are noncompetitive and work to build a repertoire of dance terminology and technique for each student.

~No need to buy special attire!  Wear clothes that are easy to move in and not too baggy

~If your child is signing up for tap, he/she will need to have tap shoes

~We meet in Heilman Hall.  (600 Tomlinson Road, Bryn Athyn.  Located through the double doors are the far east end of the building.

K-1st Grade:  Ballet/Tap/Jazz

COST: 

$80 per 10 week session. 

Preschoolers can attend Mrs. Austin's Wonder Garden Lunch from 12:00-1:00.  We provide the lunch.  $30 per month

STRENGTH AND AGILITY

Kelleen (Schauder) Butler will be teaching Strength and Agility on Monday afternoon to children (boys and girls) from 3rd to 6th grades.  Kelleen has been coaching for many years and this past summer helped run a Strength and Agility class for kids.

Our goal is to help kids get a good work out and develop athletic skills, and in the process learn how to build healthy lifestyles now and in the future.

  • Attire:  Comfortable clothes for indoor recreation and good sneakers for the gym floor.
  • It is helpful for children to have their own water bottle, however we will also be near a water fountain.
  • 3rd - 6th grade boys and girls
  • Meet in the Heilman Hall lobby
  • Mondays, 2:30-3:30.  November 28 - February 27 (No class Dec. 19, Dec. 26, Jan. 16 and Feb. 20)

COST:

$80 for the 10-week session.

SEWING

Lori Odhner will be teaching Sewing on Thursday afternoons to children (boys and girls) from Kindergarten through 4th grades.  Lori is creative and fun and truly gifted in teaching sewing to children (and adults) of all ages!

Our goal is to allow children to feel comfortable with fabric and a sewing machine and to create some imaginative projects!  Our hope is to have kids make things they enjoy using and/or giving.  We are not striving for perfection but rather a love for sewing.

Sewing will be held in the room we call the LUNCH BUNCH room in Heilman Hall, next to the Kitchen.

2:45-3:45 on Thursday  December 8 - February 23 (No class Dec. 22 and Dec. 29)

Minimum/Maximum : 5/10

COST:

10 Sessions for $90.  This includes a $10 supply fee.

ART CLUB

Teacher:  Diana Synnestvedt

Where:  Bryn Athyn Elementary School Art Room

Students will enjoy an opportunity to become inspired artists!  Art Club is an opportunity to explore a variety of art material and artistic expression.  Perhaps you are interested in clay, pain, pencils or paper.  Perhaps you'd like to try printmaking, felting, water color and more!

6th-8th grade boys and girls

Thursday 2:30-4:00    December 1 - February 16 (No class Dec. 22 and Dec. 29)

Hand Bells

Hand Bells have a beautiful clear sound and students can learn them quickly.  It proves to be a valuable asset to students who are studying other instruments, especially piano.  Ringing in a hand bell choir re-enforces and strengthens the student's ability to read music and effectively enhances their rhythm, making counting beats second nature, all while the child is having fun!
